There is no question that haute horology is one of the truest art forms that there is and you’d be seldom to find an artisan better than Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre. Taking this on board, it has once again used one of its more reputable models, Reverso, as a base to pay an homage to one of the greats – Vincent Van Gogh. This is actually the second special edition Reverso created as an homage to the Dutch master, and this time features one of his famous self-portraits. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, you may recall, is the famous reversible watch with two faces, thanks to a swiveling case that it first introduced in 1931 for polo-playing British army officers.
Known for its iconic swivelling case, the reversible timepiece sports a miniature enamel reproduction of Van Gogh’s Self-Portrait as a Painter, that can be viewed via the watch’s shutter mechanism. With only four examples made, one can be seen at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
